Context:

Within the HydroNet project, a publicly funded pilot in Germany’s Sauerland region aiming to build a local hydrogen economy based on decentralized H2 production and the existing pipeline infrastructure, digital end-to-end encrypted emission certificates are being developed for hydrogen produced and distributed across the value chain.

What we deliver:

Leading the work package for digital emission certificates, collaborating with partners to evaluate regulatory and user requirements in order to develop software enabling hydrogen value chain players to track emissions digitally.

Project definition + RFI accelerated

Context:

A power-to-hydrogen project developer with a capacity exceeding 100 MW sought an owner’s engineer to assist in the development of a project. The objective of this project was to produce and inject green hydrogen into the European Hydrogen Backbone in the future.

As the owner’s engineer, the responsibility entrusted was the coordination of the project’s definition phase. This occurred subsequent to the conclusion of the feasibility study by the client. The project definition phase was methodically organized into specific workstreams, with a multitude of documents to ensure the project’s maturation and streamlining.

What we delivered:

• • Progressive implementation of our stage-gate model, in close cooperation with the client.

  • Technical support on many aspects such as CAPEX and DEVEX estimation, critical analysis of the feasibility study, support on permitting and project risk analysis and many other tasks.

  • Implementation of a ShareDrive, documentation structure, schedule and progress tracking tool, minutes of meetings folder and action list tracker to structure the workflows with a collaborative platform.

Context:

In the context of mounting geopolitical tensions and events, such as the failure of the Tesla plant in Brandenburg, the issues of security of supply and threats to critical infrastructure have become increasingly evident and have become increasingly important.

An operator of critical infrastructure required a technical analysis, digital replication, simulation, and evaluation of the power and cooling supply. A series of measures were developed with the objective of strengthening resilience and n-1 security. In addition, strategic implementation goals were set.

Mega-scale electrolyzer projects de-risked

Context:

An e-fuels project developer sought an independent assessment of a project involving a large electrolyzer unit that was under development by an industrial investor. The client’s objective was to enter into negotiations for the acquisition of shares in and the establishment of a partnership with the industrial investor.

The due diligence process entailed a comprehensive evaluation of the primary project development aspects and the capital expenditure (CAPEX) assessment process. This evaluation identified the factors contributing to the success or potential challenges associated with the projects.

What we delivered:

• • Due diligence methodology developed by P3 and based on flag identification and assessment and for the orange and red flags, proposition of risks mitigation actions or improvement pathways.

Context:

A global active BESS investor required assistance in the review of existing technical documents concerning the grid connection to the German transmission grid.
The client’s objective was to investigate potential hazards associated with the grid connection concept and the grid concept within the BESS area.

Additionally, inquiries regarding the concept agreement (Konzeptvereinbarung) between the project developer and the TSO were to be addressed. This agreement was to be based on pre-agreements and requirements were to be established for it.
